The international chain is testing the limited-time Yu-Xiang OmniPork Taco in Shanghai.

Starting today, Taco Bell China will offer a taco made with plant-based pork at all of its Shanghai locations. The limited-time, crunchy Yu-Xiang OmniPork Taco is the result of a collaboration between Taco Bell China’s parent company Yum China and OmniPork—a vegan meat brand founded by David Yeung, who also founded Hong Kong-based vegetarian grocery and café chain Green Monday.

从今天开始,塔可贝尔中国(Taco Bell China)餐厅在其上海的所有门店推出用植物性猪肉制作的墨西哥夹饼“塔可”(taco)。这次限量供应的、香脆的“鱼香植物肉塔可脆”美食是塔可贝尔中国的母公司“百胜中国”(Yum China)与纯素肉类品牌“OmniPork”(“新猪肉”)的合作成果;该纯素肉类品牌的创始人为杨大伟(David Yeung),他还创立了总部位于香港的素食品店和连锁餐厅“绿色星期一”(Green Monday)。


“Yum China has once again proven why they are a market leader and trendsetter in their sector. From our first meeting about introducing cutting-edge plant-based protein to Mainland Chinese customers to full launch at all the outlets under the Taco Bell brand, it has been nothing short of a fun collaboration,” Yeung said.

“Their group is well known for their focus and insight on localized menu innovation, which is why this fusion Yu-Xiang OmniPork Taco—a combination of classic seasoning in a novel taco presentation—is bringing such wow effect to both local and foreign patrons.”

While only 6,000 OmniPork tacos are available at Taco Bell, Yeung hopes the collaboration will expand in the future. “We are confident that this special promotional launch is the beginning of a long partnership between the Green Monday group with Taco Bell as well as other brands under the Yum China portfolio,” Yeung said.

虽然此次塔可贝尔餐厅仅发售6,000个OmniPork新猪肉塔可美食,但杨大伟希望将来双方可以进一步扩大合作。他继续说道:“我们充满信心,这次特别促销首发活动正是‘绿色星期一’集团与塔可贝尔以及百胜中国投资组合的其他品牌之间建立长期稳定合作伙伴关系的开端。”


In select parts of Europe, Taco Bell recently debuted the Oatrageous Taco, a taco made with vegan oat-based meat—an option it plans to expand to additional European locations, and possibly the United States, in 2020.
